Aims of the competition
Lichfield Arts Song Writing Competition aims to support, encourage and develop new folk song writing talent.
For purposes of the competition, Lichfield Arts defines ‘folk’ in the widest sense of the genre, encompassing both traditional and contemporary styles.

- Cash prizes of £150 for Best Overall Song, and £50 for Best Song in the under 19 category
- Recording studio facilities to record the Best Overall Song
- All finalists will be invited to attend a song writing masterclass led by the internationally acclaimed John Tams

The shortlisted finalists for the competition will be notified during September 2019.
They will then need to confirm acceptance of the competition arrangements for the song to be performed at L2F on 21st October (see Competition Rules for further details)
If a shortlisted songwriter does not personally wish to perform their song, and is unable to find representatives to do so on their behalf, Lichfield Arts will aim to find local musicians to perform their song.
