Lichfield Arts is pleased to welcome the leading folk singer Jon Boden to headline at L2F 2017, when he appears at Lichfield Cathedral on Friday 13th October 2017.
The concert at Lichfield Cathedral promises to be something special, combining the grandeur of Lichfield Cathedral with one of the finest most sonically adventurous performers, and it will be a wonderful way to open what promises to be a great festival.
Jon Boden was a leading figure in the folk collective Bellowhead, as one of the founding members, singers and main arrangers for over 12 highly successful years.
His distinctive vocal tones, fleet fingered fiddle playing, deft guitar work, easy on-stage charisma and genre defying music means that he has proved to be a remarkably hard-wearing performer, as his two solo albums, Songs from the Flood Plan, and the newly released Painted Lady show. https://jonboden.com/
Although he is associated with folk, his sound embraces other influences to add to his own sonic stew. His music has appeared in films, and he has composed a couple of classically derived pieces for the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2010 he launched A Folk Song a Day http://www.afolksongaday.com which showcased songs and performers that had escaped the spotlight for a while.
This is a night not to be missed!
“Boden plays a vast variety of instruments as we veer from mysterious love songs to dark, poetic tales, amid hints of soul, electronic and thrilling guitar thrash.”
